Erasmus+

The Erasmus Programme for students, part of the broader Erasmus+ initiative, enables students in higher education to study or undertake internships abroad in participating European countries. It offers grants to help cover travel and living costs, providing opportunities to experience different cultures, improve language skills, and gain a global perspective. Typically lasting from three months to a full academic year, the programme aims to enhance personal development, academic performance, and employability by fostering international experience and intercultural understanding.

KLU is currently funding Student Mobility for Studies, Student Mobility for Training and PhD mobilities.

The International Office offers regular information events for students interested in an Erasmus+ mobility.
Further information on the Erasmus+ programme can be found on the website of the NA DAAD under eu.daad.de.

Key aspects of the programme

The main goal of the Programme is to foster lifelong learning, helping students and people across Europe (and beyond!) grow in their education, careers, and personal lives. By doing this, it aims to create sustainable growth, quality job opportunities, and a more connected society, while sparking innovation and building a strong European identity. This Programme is a gateway to becoming an active citizen and a key player in shaping the future of Europe.

It’s all about making learning a continuous adventure, supporting the European Education Area, and driving forward exciting new initiatives in education and training.

Advantages of an Erasmus+ exchange

Recognition of academic achievements

Students take courses not available at their home institution, gaining new perspectives and knowledge while being sure about it being recognized at the home institution.

Financial support

Erasmus+ financially supoorts participants through the waiver of tuition fees at the host institution, financial support for mobility, as well as special grants for fewer opportunities, green travel and traineeships.

Support for the whole mobility

The Erasmus programme provides you with organisational, cultural and linguistic support from the beginning to the end of your mobility. For example, with the EU's Online Language Support.

Proven processes

Erasmus+ fosters cooperation between institutions, leading to shared administrative standards for a smooth process.

Erasmus+ Financing

Students can receive Erasmus+ funding if they wish to study in one of the 33 participating programme countries. They must be enrolled at a German university with an Erasmus+ charter. There must also be an Erasmus+ cooperation agreement between the home university and the host university.

Students can take part in Erasmus+ mobility from the moment they enrol. At KLU, there is a fixed time slot for the semester abroad for regular semester stays - you can find more information on our main page or in our FAQs.

The financial support for ERASMUS stays by students is based on the different costs of living in the destination countries and is redefined by the DAAD each year. The following funding rates are therefore intended as a guide. The scholarship amount for students is determined on the basis of the information they provide on the duration of their stay in the Mobility Online system and the available budget.

The amounts stated below represent the current Erasmus+ KA131 Call 2024.
