As a KLU degree student, you will receive a Deutschlandticket, granting you access to public transportation throughout Germany.
All information on your KLU semester ticket/Deutschlandticket
As a degree student at KLU you will receive a HVV semester ticket for public transportation. This semester ticket is an additional benefit provided by KLU and is not included in your tuition fees. The ticket is provided to KLU degree students at no extra cost, offering an added value of approximately €384 per year.
With the HVV semester ticket you are able to make use of all public transportation in greater Hamburg and across Germany. HVV stands for Öffentlicher Hamburger Verkehrsverbund GmbH & Co. and means Hamburg public transportation corporation.
Please be aware that exchange students will not receive a semester ticket from KLU and will need to purchase a Deutschlandticket independently if required.
The Deutschlandticket is digital and valid nationwide. It can be used for unlimited travel on all regional trains such as RB, RE, and S-Bahn, as well as on public transportation services like buses, trams, and subways in participating states, transit associations, and transport companies, according to their respective conditions and coverage areas.
This offer is valid as long the Deutschlandticket exists, for now until fall 2024/25. We hope that the political discourse will support the Deutschandticket indefinitely.- You can download your ticket

- Enter your birth date in the format DD/MM/YYYY and your matriculation number (can be found on your student ID or your matriculation certificate on MyKLU)
- download your ticket in your wallet app. Printed tickets and screenshots tickets are not accepted. You can also use the website to log in whenever you need to present your ticket (bear in mind connection difficulties).
- for an additional fee, you can also order a plastic card (if needed please contact the HVV)
- You must present it with your ID when asked for it.
For KLU program students:
- Sept. 1 - Feb. 28/29
- March
1- Aug. 31
- varying validity for KLU BSc. Students during exchange semester: May 1 - August 31
For incoming exchange students the validity dates vary depending on the duration of stay:
- Sept. 1 - Dec. 31
- Jan. 1- Feb. 28/29
- March 1 - Mai 31
You will receive an email when you are able to download the new ticket. As a rule of thumb you can download the new ticket 7 days prior to the listed validity dates above.
Please check if :
- your birth date is correct (on MyKLU or StudentID)
- you entered it in the correct format DD/MM/YYYY
- you are an exchange student: have you paid the transport ticket fee of 50€?
- there might be issues with your enrollment status?
- if the ticket shows an expired date, download it again.
